Horse stalls 12 feet square are recommended for adults. The lower half of the sides this stall were solid, while the metal bars for the upper half allowed horses to interact with others. This design also provides good air circulation and optimizes lighting within the stalls. The gap in the bars should not exceed about 5 inches lest an overly aggressive horse might be tempted to nip another. The stall is fitted with a secured blue grain dish and two flexible rubber buckets, one for water and the other for a salt block. In this stable, hay was fed on the floor to emulate the grazing position of horses.
