Bovine fetus at 45 days of pregnancy, removed from the uterus. The chorionic membranes extended nearly the entire length of both horns of the uterus. The amnion surrounds the fetus at the top center. Fetal blood vessels radiate out from the umbilical cord across the surface of the chorion to cotyledons where they terminate in close association with maternal blood vessels in the uterine caruncles. Images NAL 88 and 24 show the same fetus with the chorion removed, and with both chorion and amnion removed, respectively.
