Here are two litters of piglets under heat lamps next to the farrowing stalls where they were born about 3 days earlier. The back of one of the sows is shown at the right. Technicians should regularly observe baby pigs for deaths or signs of disease, especially for the first few days after birth. Data on health issues and mortality are recorded and monitored for signs of genetic or infectious disease problems.
