Balancer (Gelbvieh x Red Angus) calf nursing. Gelbvieh cattle originated in southern Germany.  The cattle are known for their maternal traits, increased rate of gain and  improved feed efficiency.  In addition, Gelbvieh cattle are medium to large framed and docile.  Balancer cattle are a recognized hybrid seedstock that are registered with the American Gelbvieh Association.  Balancer cattle are 25 to 75% Gelbvieh with the balance Angus or Red Angus.  The cow is a registered Gelbvieh and the calf is 50:50 Gelbvieh:Red Angus.
